Following the hugely successful trip to the recent Brixham Fishstock Festival, club members once again cast off for a trip with a difference, to the River Exe Cafe.

In case you haven’t heard about it, the Cafe is situated on a barge in the middle of the Exe, roughly opposite Starcross and is a fantastic location for spending an hour or two.
Even though the restaurant was fully booked we managed to berth with no issues as many visitors arrive by water taxi from Exmouth. An outside table was quickly found and in no time at all we had drinks in our hands while choosing food from the menu.
All the staff (there seemed to be lots of them!) were extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
Unfortunately, the cafe closes for the season at the end of September but everyone present agreed this is a ‘must visit again’ location when the 2016 season arrives.
If you’d like to join us on any forthcoming trips then please let us know when you’re next in the clubhouse, or maybe leave a message on the forums here.
Options for getting there:
- Your own boat.
- Train to Starcross then main ferry to Exmouth. Then water taxi from Exmouth marina.
- Train to Exmouth and then get the water taxi from Exmouth marina.

A very good day, pity the lead boat led us across a sand bank and we almost went aground, won`t mention who this was but Martin was on board! An excellant day and good company, must do it more often.
