Hi All,
We are well into the 2015 boating year and B.O.A.T. is moving forward with this superb website, which I hope all members find informative and is the means of communication between all those actively involved with the club. Obviously it is a window to the outside world which will encourage new members to join, who until now, never knew we existed. Thanks goes to Paul Hruza for putting this site together, as many hours have gone into the making of it.
As with all clubs, the committee is the backbone of any club and without their efforts we would not exist. We have this year 4 officers and 4 committee members and I believe them to be one of the strongest and committed teams to date. We all have jobs to do within the club and the team list is up in the clubhouse and on this website and I expect them to have the B.O.A.T. club members’, support.
As you are all aware the clubs foundation and roots come from BOAT WATCH activities, we have recently had a spate of thefts so it is important that we all step up to the mark, to reduce the problem. We are actively working with the Police.
Membership is at an all time high and our accounts are healthy, use your clubhouse, it’s there to enjoy, recent working parties have resulted in the fitting of a new gas cooker and kitchen and a lick of paint has spruced everything up. Just remember to tidy up after you use the facilities and chuck a pound in the tea swindle now and then.
The recent Flotilla to Coombe Cellars was a well supported day and the evening BBQ was a great success and the club was up 49p, on the day. If the weather is on our side it is hoped that we can all get together and sail to Dawlish to watch the Air Show. The fish and chip night on or around the 5th of November will happen, and it is hoped to have an Xmas party, a provisional date has been set for Saturday, 19th December, at a local venue.
Well that’s about it for now be safe, but have fun, and remember no flying boats this year!
Regards
Martyn Harvey
